TMJ Therapy

More than fifteen percent of American adults suffer from chronic facial pain. Some common symptoms include pain in or around the ears, tenderness around the jaw, clicking or popping sound when opening the mouth, and frequent head aches and neck aches. Often patients simply resign themselves to having to endure the pain and do not pursue treatment.

Temperomandibular Disorder or TMD is a syndrome that can be difficult to diagnose since other conditions such as ear or sinus infections can mimic the symptoms. Many times, however, the chronic pain that patients suffer through is associated with the muscles and ligaments of the TMJ. The onset of symptoms of TMD can sometimes be associated with a specific event like a "whip lash" injury or can actually be related to long standing problems with the patients teeth and bite.

Dr. Clapcich has pursued training at the Dawson Center for Advanced Dental Studies in the many aspects of TMD therapy. His studies included the diagnosis and treatment of occlusal problems, the treatment of masticatory system problems, and the treatment of advanced TMD issues.

Chronic facial pain is not something that has to be endured. If you have any concerns about TMD please contact the office for a consultation.
